WEEKEND OF FOOD AND SONG

There’s a busy weekend ahead at Towcester Mill Brewery at the end of July, so make sure you come and see for yourself what’s going on!

On Saturday 29 July from around 2.30pm, the Brewery garden will be hosting a visit from the Vauxhall Male Voice Choir, as well as local ladies singing group, the Songbirds. The Vauxhall Male Voice Choir, which is based in Luton, sings all kinds of music including operatic choruses, show songs, sacred songs, spirituals, Welsh hymn tunes as well as Traditional Male Voice Choir standards and has been in existence for over 70 years. The Songbirds group has a broad repertoire of songs sung in two, three and four part harmonies from classics to beautiful ballads and arrangements from films and shows.

There will also be a BBQ in the garden from 1pm so you can sit back, have a bite to eat, enjoy a pint (or two) and listen to some fabulous music from both the male and female choirs!

And, on Sunday 30 July between 1pm and 5pm, the Brewery will be hosting its second popular Crayfish Festival in conjunction with Crayfish Capers, a family run business in Milton Keynes. They specialise in the trapping and supplying of signal crayfish and will be cooking up the biggest paella dish ever seen for all to enjoy, as well as some fish finger sandwiches for the little ones…

Mark Lees, who runs Crayfish Capers, said, “We can’t wait for the festival at Towcester Mill this year, it’s the first of three we have planned this year at The Mill, but the only one where we’ll be serving up our famous crayfish paella. We actually come down to the Mill leat and trap the crayfish fresh from the water so come and join us and get involved with the catching! I’ve been trapping signal crayfish for the last 10 years and our business came about as a result of the invasion of signal crayfish in UK rivers and canals. By trapping them in this way we can help slow down the devastating effects they are having on our waters.”

Entry to both events is free, just come and enjoy the location, the food, the song and of course our award winning real ale and 20 different gins!
